#ChickLitMay A to Z Scavenger Hunt

H is for HOT HERO!

What’s Chick Lit without a hot hero to swoon over? I mean, sure we love our heroines and their amazing adventures, but it’s our book boyfriends who really get our hearts pumping. Am I right?

Without a doubt, my favorite hero is Mark Darcy from Bridget Jones’s Diary by Helen Fielding. Don’t tell my husband I said that! He is the hero of my French Twist series and he might be a bit miffed by my choice. (Although, in all fairness, a husband is grounded firmly in reality, while our hot heroes live in a magical fantasy world created by our favorite authors.) Now, let’s get back to Mr. Darcy! Ms. Fielding does an amazing job of reeling us in with Mark’s tantalizing physical attributes as well as his haughty attitude. But seeing Colin Firth bring him to life on the big screen? <stops to fan self> That made me lose my breath.

A close second is Luke Brandon from Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella. He’s attractive, powerful and adorably cranky. Come to think of it, so is my husband. Hmm. I guess I have a hankering for beautiful men with a hint of irritability, since that description fits him perfectly. Imagine my delight when Hugh Dancy was chosen to play him in the film version. Oh, happy day!

Last, but certainly not least, is Ben Williams from Jemima J by Jane Green. He’s extremely good-looking (sculpted muscles and all), intelligent, sweet and a little clueless. As this novel hasn’t been made into a movie, I’ve had to imagine him for myself. Liam Hemsworth fits the bill for me! He’s tall, muscular, has the floppy light brown hair and smoldering face. Is anyone else feeling a little faint?
